A Toast to the Wonderful Opportunity of Being a Solopreneur

Today I was thinking about all of the things my wife and I do every day to keep our house going, make sure the kids are taken care of, and dealing with the mundane tasks in life, and I asked myself, "How on earth would I ever do these things if I had a regular job?"
Being a solopreneur is a wonderful, wonderful choice today. Both my wife and I work from home as solopreneurs, and it makes thIngs so much easier. Every weekday I can drive our elementary-school-aged kids to school, play tennis, then work a couple of hours, have lunch with my wife, walk the dogs, work a few more hours, pick the kids up from school, and get them where they need to go from there. Meanwhile, my wife can run her business, take care of our toddler, play tennis (using our parents, who live near by, as babysitters), and do all of the things she does to keep the house together. We hire people to do some of these things, but we aren't willing to outsource child care, and our lifestyles are simple enough that we really don't need to hire fancy butlers, personal chefs, personal shoppers or anything like that.
If we lived full-time traditional jobs, there is no way we could have all of this freedom and flexibility; it would feel like we were in hell. I really don't know how double wage earners do it. I don't even know how single wage earners in traditional jobs do it -- spending a good part of their weekends doing all of the chores that accumulate during the week, commuting back and forth, dealing with obnoxious coworkers all day long in a sterile office environment. In fact, I don't think I could ever go back to the regular grind of an 8 to 6 (face it -- there are no reall 9 to 5 jobs that pay well anymore) job -- at least not without a huge signing bonus, paycheck, liquid form of equity, and guaranteed golden parachute when I leave.
I sincerely hope that you have tapped into the fun, fulfillment, and unlimited income potential of the solopreneurial lifestyle! If not, devise a plan to get out of your current situation and into self-employment. It is easier than you think and you will never look back.
